Announcement of the 22nd Conference on the Killing of Political Prisoners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

A program to remember and honor those who died in the 1980s<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The anniversary of the silence of thousands of freedom-loving and militant women and men who gave their lives to the enemy has reached three decades. 34 years ago, the agents of the Islamic Republic turned the 1980s into the bloodiest chapter in Iran’s contemporary history by launching a nationwide offensive against political opponents and killing thousands of fighting men and women. They began the killing of opponents with mass executions in 1981 and reached their peak in the summer of 1988. <\/p>\n\n

In the summer of 1988, with the aim of eliminating prisoners who had survived the massacres of the early 1980s, they closed the prisons and cut off their communication with the outside world. They then handed the prisoners over in groups to death squads and eventually buried them en masse and secretly in unmarked graves across Iran. <\/p>\n\n

The killing of political prisoners in the 1980s was not limited to eliminating opponents and establishing tyranny and dictatorship. This killing affected all areas of people\u2019s lives and society. Continuing to examine the aspects and extent of the impact of the killing of political prisoners on various social areas, the Iranian Political Prisoners Center (in exile) has dedicated its 22nd conference on the killing of political prisoners in the 1980s, which coincides with the 27th anniversary of the killing of political prisoners, to the impact of the killing of political prisoners in the 1980s on various branches of art. <\/p>\n\n

Famous figures from Iranian culture and art will be present in this program:<\/p>\n\n

Naser Rahmani Nejad, Jamileh Nadaei, Iraj Jannati Ataei, Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh, Hadi Khorsandi, and Vansha Rudbaraki are the guests on the program who will speak about the impact of the repression and killing of dissidents in the 1960s on songwriting, composition, humor, theater, cinema, and painting. <\/p>\n\n

Kurdish revolutionary artist Fariborz Fakhari will remember and perform pieces on the soprano saxophone in honor of those who died in the regime’s prisons.<\/p>\n\n
