Announcement of the 21st Conference on the Killing of Political Prisoners

21st Conference on the Killing of Political Prisoners

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the killing of political prisoners

History will never forget the tragedy of the killing of thousands of political prisoners.

33 years ago, in the summer of 1981, the Islamic Republic regime committed a horrific crime in Iranian prisons that continued for years to come and throughout the 1980s. This time, it was not the kings who made Iran’s history bloody, but the criminal regime of the Islamic Republic. This criminal regime began its shameful life with killing and repression, and this has now become an inseparable principle of its existence.

Recalling the tragedy of the killing of thousands of freedom-loving men and women throughout history emphasizes the important point that the Iranian people will never forget this crime against humanity and will never forgive its perpetrators. Those who committed this horrific crime must know that a day will come when they will have to answer for their actions before the masses of the Iranian people.

On the 26th anniversary of this human tragedy, the Iranian Political Prisoners’ Association (in exile) – Stockholm Branch commemorates the memory of thousands of women and men who fought and sought freedom and were murdered in the prisons of the Islamic Republic by exploring this crime and its impact on literature and poetry, with the presence of experts in the fields of literature, criticism, and research.

Nasim Khaksar, Asad Seif, and Shahroz Rashid will give lectures on literature, criticism, and research, while Ahmad Mousavi, Mehdi Aslani, and Iraj Mosadaghi will discuss poetry and literature in prison. Bahram Rahmani will host the roundtable discussion.

The guest artists on the program will be Fariborz Fakhari, Rostam Mirlashari (Nader) and his fellow musicians.

As in previous years, together with freedom-loving and justice-seeking Iranians, especially the families of those who died in the 1960s, and all those who have a heart for humanity and justice, by attending this ceremony, we will pay tribute to the memory of the women and men who died in the prisons of the Islamic Republic or on the streets in the face of this criminal regime, and we will not let the passage of time cast a shadow of oblivion over these horrific crimes. We say in one voice with the masses of the Iranian people that we will neither forgive nor forget, and until these criminals are tried in the people’s courts and justice is served to the masses of the Iranian people, we will continue to fight this criminal regime until it is overthrown.
