Announcement of the 18th Conference on the Killing of Political Prisoners

Revisiting the hidden aspects of the killing of political prisoners at the 18th gathering, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the killing of thousands of fighting men and women

.

In the history of the struggles of the masses of the people of every country, there are events that have a profound impact on the course of history and remain for generations. The reactionary regime of the Islamic Republic, by killing political prisoners in the 1960s, committed the bloodiest crime in the contemporary history of Iran and added another black leaf to its entire bloody and shameful record.

The mass executions and killings of political prisoners in the 1960s have had a devastating and irreparable impact on Iranian society and history, which will undoubtedly affect future generations. What is even more catastrophic is that this crime has continued in other dimensions and forms, causing serious and irreparable damage to the fabric of society and social health. In a situation where the perpetrators of this great historical crime are still in power, in order to confront the repetition of such a crime and the killing of another generation at the hands of the ruling criminals and reduce its social damage, it is of great importance for Iranian society and history to re-examine the tragedy of the killing of political prisoners, repeat the narratives, and examine and address it.

The Iranian Political Prisoners’ Association (in exile) has helped preserve this crime in the memory of society and history over the past seventeen years by organizing dozens of actions, demonstrations, gatherings, seminars, and lecture sessions in Persian, English, German, and Swedish, dozens of press and radio and television interviews, holding photo and film exhibitions, information desks, street theaters, and other forms of protest and awareness, publishing hundreds of announcements, articles, and reports, making documentary films, and recording visual and written accounts of survivors and families of the deceased.

The Islamic Republic regime has always tried to hide this crime from society and the people, so that the killing of thousands of political prisoners in the 1960s will be forgotten over time. The Iranian Political Prisoners Association (in exile) has, for its part, so far prevented the reactionary regime ruling Iran from achieving this evil goal.

The autopsy of the various, unspoken and hidden aspects of the killing of political prisoners in the 1960s is the most urgent task that history has placed before informed people, especially communists. Many of the dark corners of this horrific crime have been subjected to internal scrutiny by survivors of the killings of the 1960s, and for four years now, a group of families and survivors of the killing of political prisoners in the 1960s, as well as activists in social and political arenas, have launched a global campaign for the first time to address this crime publicly in an international people’s court.

But few have addressed the external aspects of the massacre and its political impact on society and the people, especially the families of the victims. The Iranian Political Prisoners Association (in Exile), which has been exploring and examining many of the unspoken and hidden aspects of this crime for all these years, is once again discussing and examining the external aspects of the darkroom of this horrific crime by proposing new topics on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the massacre.

The program, which will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Hös Bítárf Auditorium in Stockholm, will feature lectures by Fariba Sabet, author of “Prison Memories,” Ahmad Mousavi, author of “Good Night, Comrade,” Iraj Mosadaghi, author of “Neither Living nor Dying,” and Mehdi Aslani, author of “The Crow and the Red Flower.” Other guests on the program will include Iraj Jannati-Azaei, songwriter, playwright, and theater director, and Nader, a beautiful singer living in Stockholm, and his artistic companions.

We invite all freedom-loving Iranians living in Stockholm and Sweden to this gathering. May our presence in this program honor the memory of thousands of fighting men and women who are no longer with us and not allow this horrific crime to be forgotten. This is part of our fight against the criminals ruling Iran.
