Arresting the mothers of the plaintiffs is doomed to failure.
Since January 2017, the masses of the Iranian people have escalated their struggles against the Islamic Republic and have emerged from a defensive position and turned to direct and aggressive confrontation with the entirety of the Islamic Republic. The people’s struggles against the Islamic Republic, the status quo, and its oppression and injustice have since become more coherent, accelerated, and expanded. From then on, especially in November 2019, the slogans directly targeted the entirety of the Islamic Republic and its leadership, especially Khamenei.
The Islamic Republic, which all these years thought that it had created safe conditions for itself by killing and suppressing society, instilling religion in children in schools, and expanding the religious system in people’s lives and work, was shaken by the nationwide protests of millions of children of toil and hardship and the hungry and barefoot masses in November 2019. Like a wounded snake, it is coiling around itself and trying to stay alive for a few more days by inflicting more wounds on the body of society. The killing of 1,500 young boys and girls in November 2019, and the bereavement of 1,500 families, were a result of the repressive and criminal policies of the Islamic Republic.
The Islamic Republic, now that larger sections of the people, including workers, teachers, retirees, etc., have turned to confront the Islamic Republic and have risen up and taken to the streets against the corruption of this government, the status quo, the rampant repression, the skyrocketing prices, the increase in poverty and hunger, wants to overcome this crisis by creating another one. Crisis and corruption have engulfed the Islamic Republic, and this regime has shown throughout its shameful rule that it is incapable of solving any crisis and knows only one way to deal with it, and that is through repression and crime.
The renewed plan to uncover the veil and attack women who are no longer willing to submit to the compulsory veil, the organized verbal and physical attacks on women and their arrests in the streets, as well as the arrest of a number of mothers of the women’s rights activists in November 2019, are a version of repression that the regime has devised to divert public opinion from the high cost and several hundred percent increase in the prices of essential goods for the people.
The capitalist and religious government ruling Iran, since it came to power, has done nothing but suppress, arrest, torture, and kill, dragging society backward and plunging the people into a quagmire of misery and misery. The Islamic government should know that by killing political opponents in the 1960s, it institutionalized the germ of hatred for this government in society, and with every arrest, suppression, and killing in the following decades, it has accelerated the process of its own decline and destruction. The harassment of women and the arrest of the mothers of those seeking justice in November 2019 may have overshadowed the burden it is carrying, but this will be temporary. The Islamic Republic may be able to postpone its destruction for a few days with these actions, but it cannot save itself from the inevitable fate that awaits it. There is no doubt that the people who have been oppressed and suppressed will be the ultimate winners in the field of struggle.
The Iranian Political Prisoners Association (in exile) strongly condemns the harassment of women and the arrest of the mothers of November 1398. The harassment of women must end as soon as possible and the mothers of November 1398 must be released as soon as possible.
Mothers and families who are demanding justice after four decades of repression by the Islamic Republic, the children of imprisoned mothers, should know that the fighting, freedom-loving, justice-seeking, and just people will not leave them alone.
