Labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi sentenced to death

The Islamic Republic sentenced labor activist Sharifa Mohammadi to death in its Rasht courthouse on charges of “rebel” after various tortures and fabrications. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly used false charges, such as “rebel,” “war crime,” and “corruptor of the earth,” to create fear and terror in society against political, social, and civil activists and people protesting the government. But this is the first time that a labor union activist has been sentenced to death on this charge. In recent months, the Islamic Republic has sentenced seven Kurdish religious prisoners to death on charges of rebellion and has executed six of them so far. It has put at least fifteen other political prisoners on death row on this charge.

The Islamic Republic has sentenced Sharifeh Mohammadi to death on charges of rebellion, while Khamenei, the leader of the ruling criminal gang in Iran, was begging the people to participate in the regime’s show elections for his lost legitimacy during the regime’s election show, so that he could continue his social repression and criminal activities with peace of mind and with the support of the votes that the people cast in the ballot box. However, a large majority of the people said a big no to this brutal regime in the last two elections, creating fear of destruction in Khamenei and all the pillars of the government.

In order to confront the fear that has taken over its entire existence, the Islamic Republic is trying to overcome its fear by creating terror in society, pushing people back and showing itself to be powerful. However, this vileness has lost its effectiveness and instead of creating fear in the people, it has made them more determined than ever to dismantle this criminal regime and its system of oppression.

The issuance of a death sentence on charges of “rebellion” to Sharifeh Mohammadi, as a labor activist, is a message from the regime to society, especially the working class and other hardworking and poor segments of society, to be afraid and stop demanding against oppression and exploitation.

The Iranian Political Prisoners Association (in exile) strongly condemns the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi and fifteen prisoners associated with the revolutionary women’s movement of freedom, including Reza Rasaei and Mahmoud Mehrabi. The Islamic Republic must be pressured to overturn the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi and other political prisoners sentenced to death.
